It is important to remember that in some cases, they may have to contact the manufacturer in order to obtain the Network Unlocking Code. If this is the case then you may have a delay of up to ten working days before receiving your NUC.
If you use an iPhone or an Apple product of some description then the unlocking will be done for you, and you will receive a notification of it by email. After that, you may need to reset your handset and re-synchronise your mobile phone with iTunes, iCloud, and other Apple services.

Can I turn off the content restriction on my handset?
Sometimes, handsets come with a certain restriction on some websites. This is especially useful for young users of mobile phones whose parents or guardians do not want them to access inappropriate material, apps, or other forms of multimedia content.
If you’re over eighteen however, it is possible to remove this restriction. To do so, firstly you will want to sign in to your My Vodafone page. Then, you can select the ‘services’ bar in the main menu, and choose ‘bars and data’.
There should be an option here to either turn on or off the restriction on content. You will need to do some verification, to make sure that you are over eighteen.
This is done by entering personal details including your visa or payment card number, the date on which you were born, and the address information of your home. You might also have to select ‘Pay Now’, although this is a formality and you may not be charged for turning off this service.
Once you have been verified as being over the right age, you should be able to turn the content restriction either on or off.
After changing the status of this restriction however, you might want to wait for up to ten minutes and then turn your device off and then on again, or use the restart function if possible.
It can actually take up to an entire day to take effect, so be aware of this if you can’t access the restricted material or content on your mobile straight away.
Finally, check that you have received a text notification telling you that this restriction has been lifted.
How do I add money to my phone?
There are several different ways that you will be able to add credit to your phone if you are a Pay As You Go customer. The only thing you need to do is select whichever option is most convenient for you and which one you wish to employ.
Firstly, you might choose to top up your account online through their online portal. You can do this either using a debit card, credit card, or any other valid payment card.
This can be a convenient option as you do not have to go anywhere, leave the house, or travel and all that you need is your phone and your payment card.
The second method that you could use, if you have a smartphone, is to use the application called ‘My Vodafone’. This application allows you to keep your payment card details on file, meaning that you don’t have to enter your card number, security code, and any other verification information every time that you wish to top up. The advantage of this again is that it’s quick, easy, and saves time.
Thirdly, you can top up your account simply using your phone by calling Vodafone directly on their credit top-up line, which is accessible by dialing 2345 from your handset. You must be a PAYG customer with a Vodafone SIM and handset in order to do this.
If you want to top-up your phone in a more traditional way, it is also possible to buy a physical voucher from a number of outlets.
Although this has been partially replaced by the other options mentioned above, it is still possible to buy top-up codes, coupons, or vouchers from many stores, including mainstream supermarkets and smaller corner shops. You will need to enter in a code and then press *#1345* to add the purchased credit to your account.
Another method that you may wish to choose is to add credit to your account via text message. Firstly, you will have to call 2345 and register for this service or top up initially using the phone call method.
Following that, the next time that you wish to add credit to your account you may text TOP UP to the same number as previously mentioned, 2345, followed by the amount of money that you wish to add to your account.
You will also need to include the last 4 numbers from your chosen payment card. As an example, if you wanted to add twenty pounds to your account and your payment card ended in 5555, you would text TOP UP 20 5555 to the number 2345.
If none of these options appeal to you, you might wish to set up your Vodafone account to top-up your account through an automatic process. This can happen at intervals determined by you and at an amount determined by you. It could be once per week, once per month, or once every thirty calendar days. To do this, you will need to get in touch with the company.
Finally, you might wish to add credit to your account in a Vodafone store. If you enter a Vodafone store you will find that there are often a number of small centres called ‘Top Up’ kiosks. This is a service that you can complete by yourself.
There are other Top Up places that you can use from day to day, including at automated teller or ATM machines, and at some major retailers like supermarkets.
All of these are convenient methods that you may wish to choose to add financial credit to your Pay As You Go phone with Vodafone.

Is it safe for me to use Wi-Fi for things?
Wi-Fi can often be secure or insecure, and this generally relates to what precautions have been taken by the person, people, or organisation who have set up the network.
For example, at a major company or corporation it’s likely that the Wi-Fi network is monitored and has a number of measures taken to secure it, including encryption services and ensuring that no one can collect data transferred over this network.
On the other hand, public WiFi networks, for instance those that you might find in a name brand cafe, or in public transport, or even possibly in a hotel, could be less secure and not have the same level as security.
How can I make my WiFi More secure?
You may be able to do this by changing your username and passwords frequently, turning on encryption services like WPA2 services, and enabling some kind of firewall if you have one available to you.
Public Wi-Fi hotspots are more dangerous, as many do not employ encryption and are therefore more vulnerable to ‘evil twin’ attacks. This is where a fake network is setup to look like the public hotspot, and then used to intercept your details and data.
You should therefore always consider what kinds of personal or sensitive data you transfer over public hotspots.
Will it add a charge to my mobile bill if I connect to a Wi-Fi network?
No, connecting to Wifi does not cause any charges as this uses a different network to your data network. It also won’t affect your balance for mobile data under the terms of your contract.
If on the other hand, you are a Pay As You Go customer and have no remaining credit or data, connecting to a Wi-Fi network will still allow you to use internet services.
However, you should keep in mind that some Wi-Fi networks charge a fee to use them, particularly in some hotels or public spaces. You might have to sign up and purchase a pass to use the Wi-Fi in this situation, and this could potentially show up on your next bill or may require a payment card at the time.
You may wish to investigate carefully the security of these kinds of networks before entering any payment information.
Is Wi-Fi as fast as data?
This depends on a few different things. As an example, if a Wi-Fi network is being used by a large number of people then it is possible that this will slow down the network. In addition, if the connection to the internet is slow then of course the WiFi usage on your device will also be slow.
What is a public Wi-Fi hotspot?
A public Wi-Fi hotspot is a set-up area in which Wi-Fi can be used as long as you are eligible to access the service. In some cases you may be required to pay extra to access a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Where are Wi-Fi hotspots located?
Wi-Fi hotspots are located all over the country in a number of convenient places where people may require internet.
Does Vodafone have any Wi-Fi Hotspots?
Yes, some packages that you might sign up for with Vodafone also include the ability to use Vodafone WiFi hotspots, and hotspots which are partners with Vodafone. This means that if you are out of data or you don’t wish to incur extra charges, then you might be able to connect to one of these hotspots at no additional charge to use internet services.
